YUUGEN
YUUGEN was conceived by Sesuke Oonishi, whose career has been defined by shaping how objects live within everyday life.
After contributing to the expansion of one of Japan's most influential retail movements, he turned his focus toward something more enduring — the quiet, lasting value of Japanese craftsmanship.
His path led him deep into the ateliers and communities of Kyushu, where generations of ceramicists still work by hand, largely unseen beyond Japan. From these relationships, built over decades, he began to select works not for their output, but for their presence.
YUUGEN was established as the platform for that selection — a way to carry pieces rooted in a single place in Japan into contemporary spaces across the world.
His approach is not driven by volume, but by discernment — bringing together works that embody balance, restraint, and timeless form.
Each piece carries a singular intention: to extend the depth of Japanese ceramic tradition to those who recognize it.
